Reconnect is a documentary about the life of professional kitesurfer and 3-time world champion Jalou Langeree. Jalou speaks vulnerable about her depression that she carries with her throughout her career.
The documentary sheds light on mental health issues in top sport and focuses on inequality between men and women in sport.

Wing Foiling on Aruba!

It’s been all about surf foiling these past few weeks. Holland has been delivering perfect conditions non stop.  I was able to foil the smallest non breaking swell with the help of the @flyingfish_efoils and driver @supertyn. It was such a good experience, we struggled at the beginning but found the perfect technique in no time. I was using the @northkiteboarding Sonar 1650 wing and the 70cm mast. It made my rides feel effortless, smooth,controlled and the amount of lift gave me the opportunity to travel for ever! It’s the best feeling in the world if you ask me. 
I’m so insanely addicted to it now, can’t wait to be out there again. Big thanks to Rich for the awesome drone footage 👌🏼

E-foil Tow-in

It's not just about performance. This session I had with Annabel at Medemblik was pure based on pleasure and joy! I have not gone for a freestyle session for a very long time, but I got enthusiactic about the fact that we went for a mission with the girls. Sharing a session without pushing myself to perform felt like taking it back to the base which is FUN! Big smiles and stoke is what is shown in this footage. Stay healthy , stay active and be safe!

I got invited by Annabel to join her for a dock foil practice in her backyard. A perfect activity for the windless days at home. We have to be honest it was quite an experience with lots of wipe-outs, we sure did underestimated it.  
We will keep practicing so you can keep laughing ;)

4 months well spend in Cape Town, this place never gets old. 
I've been coming here for over 15 years and i def call it my second home. I usually leave Cape Town by mid march and return around November December. Already excited for winter 2020, Yeeewww.

GoodBye Cape Town Session!

Fun day out at Haakgat which is one of my favorite spots to ride in Cape Town. It starts off with some singing and terrible dances moves in the parking lot, followed by a shred session in fun and small waves.

The strong south easterly wind in Cape Town creates the perfect wind swell even on the flattest day. Gliding from the one swell straight into the next one, I just can't get enough of it :)

Being injured is something I have not experienced in my carrier yet.

I traveled back to one of my favorite locations in Indonesia. To enjoy some high quality kitesurf conditions. It's always a gamble to get all the elements just right. But I can say that the weather gods were on our side this time.

Did i get barreled in Indonesia?

Summer in Holland is the most beautiful time. I often miss out because im traveling for competition, photoshoots or just chasing wind and waves. 
This summer I managed to spend one month at home and this is what went down.

My Dutch Summer

Before the start of the KSWT in Dakhla Morocco i took some time to go and explore the coastline. We camped overnight in the middle of the desert, made local tajine for diner and slept under the stars of the Sahara. We were the only ones kiting the endless wave. A trip to never forget and a coastline that can be further explored.

It's been a few weeks since I'm back in South-Africa. We haven't had the usual strong wind and wavy conditions.  In this eps I take you on a little road trip to Scarborough. Enjoy the ride.

Howling wind and glassy surf Jalou 's tories #22

In this new eps we leave Ibiraquera behind us and travel further south. We come across some nice empty beach breaks with only a couple surfers out. We kite until we can't kite no more. 

The thing in the south is that you won't get wind every single day, it's not that consistent as the north is but you'll get enough wind. In the down time we get to surf, hike and chase monkeys. 

The best season to travel to the south of Brazil is around September/October that's when the big south swells hit.

Brazil #2   Jalou 'S tories #21

So many people head over to the North of Brazil, but they totally forget about the beauty of the south. I should have gone here way earlier but I never did. Earlier this month I finally went and explored and it did not disappoint me. This edit shows the main spot called  Ibiraquera which is an hour south of Florianopolis. There are so many hidden gems that can be explored.  This is only the first part so stay tuned.

Heaven does exist!

In this brand new episode, you'll see me getting ready for the GKA world cup in Mauritius. It's been quite a while since I last competed as there wasn't a proper wave event. But now there is an i'm more then excited to compete again, especially on One Eye, which is one of the TOP waves in the world  if it comes to wave riding. Enjoy the action :)

Jalou 'S tories #18 A day with the Langeree's

In this clip I test out the Sennheiser MKE 2 Elements Mic for the Go Pro. I usually get that crunchy sound in my vlogs caused by the wind but with this MIC that's no longer. I love sharing stories when i'm out on the water with 30 knots that was normally a no GO, now it's all possible :) It really adds an extra dimension on your footage, you relive the moment. I'm super enthusiastic about it and i want everyone to know, haha

Everyone knows One Eye but nobody ever talks about the North, maybe it's better to keep it that way. Due to a lack of wind and swell we spend some time in the North of Mauritius and got to enjoy the  right-hand waves :)  Big thanks to Nico Kux for letting us stay at your beautiful home and showing us new spots.

Jalou 'S tories #14 Something different

Cabo Verde has been on the bucket list for quite some time. Stoked to finally visit the windy Island of Boa Vista. 

We only had a week but we were able to kite every single day. We did not score a big swell but together with the crew of Kite Kriol we got to see a lot of the spots around the island.

Kite Kriol is the only local kitesurf school. They have their own way of teaching and they organize day trips, cool downwinders with nice beach bbq to finish of the day. 

Big thanks to outbound kite travel, island tribe and Kite kriol for the good times. 

We will come back for sure :)

Welcome back, in this eps i'm going for the RAW food experience at Raw & Roxy in Cape Town.  

As an athlete I want to eat as clean and healthy as possible. Which means loads of fresh fruits and veg, nuts and yes I love fish and you have to admit the meat in South Africa is out of this world. I'll eat everything but in the right balance. 

Together with 2016 world freestyle champ Bruna Kajiya we spend our evening at a raw food workshop.  We stuff our selfs with tasty lasagna, raw popcorn, kale chips and unreal desserts ( no added sugar :):):)

Jalou'S tories #9 raw food Yes or No

Exploring new places is probably the best thing about kitesurfing. 
Last summer I went on an incredible trip to Madagascar together with my brother Kevin Langeree​. 

It was quite a mission getting there, the highway through Madagascar is not more then a sandy dirt road. We drove seven hours over the bumpy roads without an ocean in sight. Finally we arrived at Lavanono. 

Nothing more then a fisherman's village, people living in tiny wooden shacks, spending their days fishing and kids playing games on the beach and surfing the point break. 

How i would explain the wave?!

- Wind side off
- Minimum of 4 to 6 turns on a wave 
- Barreling section on the end 
- No crowds 

= PURE PERFECTION!

Kitesurfing Endless Madagascar

Too windy ain't the words I use a lot. But these days it's been a little to much. See how Roderick and I mission it to Cape point and believe it or not I strapped my twintip back under my feet and im slowly learning how to fly.

JALOU 'S TORIES #8 WINDY

Welcome to a brand new Jalou ' S tories #7 which is called sharing the stoke.

With kiting you are often on a chase to find the best possible conditions to kite. Most of the time I feel like every session has to be a training, in this latest vlog Roderick and myself make the best out of a flat day in Cape town, we try some aerobatics on the water, i take a local kid for a bodydrag, a random women catches fish during kiting. 

And to get rid of that last bit of energy we run up Lionshead mountain for the sunset. 

Oh boy another epic day in the mother city :)

Jalou 'S tories #7 Sharing the stoke

Here we go! My first Cape sessions of the year. So good to be back in South Africa. I've been coming here since the last 13 years and I keep coming back for more. Also this time ill be spending 3 months in kite mekka. The fun thing about Cape Town is that there I so much to do... From hiking, to biking, food markets and all sorts of watersport so better stay tuned. For now the vlog is packed with kiting action, because that's the only thing ive been doing ;)

escaped the cold weather in Holland to enjoy a mini surfing holiday in Sri Lanka together with my friend Kim. It was so good to soak up some sun and surf, before heading to Cape Town for the winter. Glassy waves, friendly people, laughs and much more....
